BIO
Nura Sainab Saker (b. 1988, Hamburg, Germany) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Barcelona. With a background in fashion design, she graduated in 2010 from the AMD Academy Fashion & Design in Hamburg and has since expanded her practice to include painting, printmaking, drawing, and artificial intelligence.
Her work explores perception, temporality, and modes of presence beyond the fixed image. Rather than understanding painting as a closed object, Saker approaches it as an ongoing process that unfolds through appearance, disappearance, memory, and resonance. Her practice is characterized by expressive, bold mark-making and an intuitive working method, moving across a wide range of techniques — from classical oil and acrylic painting to collagraphy and mixed-media experimentation.
Saker has exhibited her work at La Matriu, L’Estampa at Ca L’Antiga, Barcelona (2024). She has also presented her work online through SHOWstudio, London, and held a solo exhibition at Studio 46 Private Gallery, Barcelona. In addition, she participated in an artist residency at Studio 46 with Joan Barbará.
