SURYA NAMASKAR A
SUN SALUTATION A
UTTANASANA
A POSTURE OF INTRO PERCEPTION. A POSTURE OF ABANDONMENT, DEVOTION.
That is what Uttanasana can be about on a mental and emotional level. We practise with the body and it holds a whole story. We practise to get into a state of observation. The execution of the asana is as much dependent on our present moment as on our own inherent history - our subconscious barriers.
Why are we practicing in this single moment? What are we observing? Where does our concentration lead us to?
We bow and surrender to what we carry with us. The quality of yoga asana practice does not depend on the perfect shape of a flexion. There is quality in every practice as long as there is a body mind attention.
STHIRA SUKHAM ASANAM
STABLE - COMFORTABLE - POSTURE
IN SUKHASANA (easy pose)
This still posture is one of the most vivid asanas within my Hatha Yoga practise. To find a stable and comfortable posture might be the biggest challenge while practicing yoga asana. A posture in which we can focus our concentration and guide it towards one place, while our body remains without the urge to move. While the purpose lies in finding calmness, concentration and eventually a state of meditation, we can notice movements in our minds contrasting the posture in itself. They are quick, sneaky and most of the time far from stillness.
VIRABHADRASANA II
Warrior II
This illustrative interpretation of warrior II was made as a personal wedding gift for friends showing them both in this particular asana that cultivates the qualities of braveness, devotion, intuition, moderation, patience and trust.
